Assignments

Assignments hold a critical part in the progress of music students. They help give students detailed instructions and practice goals to reach while in-between lessons.

As such, we have developed a comprehensive Assignment module enabling teachers to send their students practice assignments with different types of attachments (notes, recording, pieces, etc), directions and guidance on how they should practice . Moreover, teachers are able to tailor each assignment to fit the needs of their student(s), edit assignments, copy-paste them from one student to another, and archive them upon need.

Whether the goal is to practice the piece and receive a perfect score (‘Compare Recording’ assignment) or complete all required repetitions, students will be able to stay on track of their practice goals and teachers will be able to track their progress. Tracking their progress will give teachers the ability to create the most suitable and relevant lesson plan.

Communication

Communication is one of the keys to success, and that’s why we’ve invested in creating many ways for teachers, students, and parents to communicate with one another. Making music-practice fun doesn’t come on its own, and sometimes requires the assistance of rewards, stickers, and a community to encourage one another. That’s why we’ve invested our time in bringing a practice experience with unique stickers, a cool rewards system, and groups for teachers and students to talk with another for encouragement and share their accomplishments.

  • Messaging

The messaging module consists of one-to-one messaging (teacher-student, teacher-parent), group chats, and channels.

Giving students and teachers the ability to communicate in-between lessons helps students better understand what they need to work on and gives teachers the confidence that their students are truly practicing at home. One-on-one messaging connects teachers and students, helping the student to find support, encouragement, and of course, share their accomplishments with their teacher right inside their private chat. Group messaging is mostly used by teachers with studios or music schools enabling them to communicate with their entire studio on assignments to work on, motivation, also enabling students to engage with their peers and ideas, opinion and progress with one another. Channels, on the other hand, are a one-way type of communication used by teachers sending guidance to their students without the students being able to respond back.

  • Support & Encouragement

Music students benefit from the support and encouragement they receive from their teachers and parents.

When receiving support from their teachers, students feel empowered and motivated to continue in their practice and continue progressing to the next stages of their practice. Teachers always stay updated with how the students are progressing and are able to adjust their support whether it be to encourage them of being on the right path or guidance and adjustments.

  • Rewards

Rewards is a great way for teachers to encourage their students to practice in-between lessons. They serve as a way to show support and encouragement.

For students, practicing their instruments at home isn’t always the most entertaining thing to do. So, to combat that we’ve introduced rewards that make practicing more fun and engaging with a gamification side. The more students practice the more they are able to reach higher XP levels, earn points, and climb the teacher’s studio leaderboard. As they reach higher XP levels, they unlock more stickers that they are able to share with one another, and of course with their teachers. The stickers are a great way to communicate between students and teachers.

Creating music is also about creating a community, and communication is the foundation for that.

Student Experience

We all know that the more students’ practice, the better they play and the longer they stick with it to feel that incredible joy of creating music.

As such, the student’s experience within Tonara is just as important to us as the teachers’ experience. Finding the motivation to sit down and practice music can be tedious and tiresome at times for kids, that’s why we’ve worked hard to create features and benefits for students that makes practicing more engaging, interactive and also fun.

With features that interact and engage with students, give students real-time feedback, and a level of gamification students are excited for their practice sessions. Overall, Tonara teachers report an increase of over 68% in average practice time since they have started using Tonara.

For students, Tonara has a studio & global leaderboard that allows students to always check their standings, and the more they practice the more points they earn. We truly believe in making practice engaging and interactive. We believe in trying to help them see the homework assignments not as something boring which they need to do but rather a fun, interactive activity that they look forward to each day.

As students continue to practice with Tonara, they are able to see their own growth and progression with statistics and all the fun rewards that they receive as they practice more and complete more assignments.

  • Engage

As teachers continue to interact and engage with their students’ in-between lessons, students are more likely to practice at home. Teachers are able to send detailed assignments for their students as well as talk with them in their private chats to help with specific frustrations and of course share how proud they are of their progress.

  • Listens & Get Feedback

Once a student starts practicing with a ‘Compare Recording’ Assignment our patent AI technology will compare the students playing to the teachers pre-recorded piece. In addition, Tonara will provide the student with real-time feedback on their fluencypitchrhythm, and tempo. They can then share their progress with their teacher, get feedback from them and further improve until their next lesson.

  • Gamification

Enjoy practicing is an important step to ensure kids will continue to learn and improve. Gamification assist in getting kids more involved and excited around practicing. As students practice more, they are able to reach higher XP levels, earn more stickers, and gain more points & climb both their teachers' and global leaderboard. The more assignments students complete the higher they grow in the XP levels and the more stickers they unlock. The stickers are a great way for teachers and students to communicate with one another for encouragement, support, and help. During each practice session, students earn points based on their playing which allows them to reach higher standings in the global leaderboard. We offer a studio leaderboard for each teacher’s studio where students can see where they stand with their classmates. We also offer a global leaderboard, so students can see where they stand with students from all across the globe.
