Happy 2024!
We had a great January at Queens Music Academy, with much more coming this February! There is a mid-winter camp at QMA, a video recital, recommendations for teen summer camps, and NYSSMA information. Please see below for details.
MID-WINTER CAMP
QMA will be hosting a Mid-Winter Camp on February 20th-22nd.
Children ages 5-13 will be able to explore a range of musical instruments in the morning, and get to express their creativity in the afternoon with LEGO creations.
This is a great way to keep your kids active while school is out!
VIDEO RECITAL
QMA is holding a video recital this February!
It's super easy to join in.
1. Choose a song with your teacher, practice it, and record a video of your performance
2. Upload the video to DropBox or Google Drive
3. Share the link to queensmusicacademy@gmail.com
The submission deadline is February 17th.

Summer Arts Institute
Admission to the Summer Arts Institute is by application and audition. Students may apply and audition for only ONE instrument. All eligible students who submit a complete application by the deadline must also submit a virtual audition by February 12, 2024. Select students will then be invited to an in-person call back audition at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts (exact date to be determined).

Welcome back Jane Kim!
Vocal & Piano Teacher
Jane Kim is a lyric soprano from South Korea. Miss Kim received her bachelor’s degree from Ewha Woman’s University and her master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music.
Welcome back Matthew Russo!
Guitar, Drums & Piano Teacher
Matthew has over a decade of private lesson experience teaching guitar, piano, drums, bass, saxophone, flute, ukulele, and music theory. He currently is in his 6th year as a NYC DOE music teacher. He holds multiple degrees from Berklee College of Music and Hunter College, and is an active performing guitarist in NYC.
Welcome Jeremy Morall!
Marketing Manager
Jeremy grew up in the music world and studied cello at CCM. He also holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree from Northwestern University. He has previous experience working for Google, Condè Nast, NBC Universal, and more. We're so grateful to have you apart of the team at QMA!
And best wishes to our previous teacher Elijah Luce-Baraceros in his future endeavors!
NYSMMA
NYSSMA is a professional organization that evaluates student musicians in New York state from elementary school to high school. Each spring, students register through their school music programs to attend NYSSMA Evaluation Festivals where they are adjudicated.
All NYC students are encouraged to apply.
Some specialized schools are looking for NYSMMA test scores.
