Current plan (Active)

Most of private lessons are offered either online or in-person at Woodside location.

In person students and teacher must fill out covid symptom check form each week.

A face covering/ mask is still required unless you have a fully vaccinated card or Covid Vaccine Card or Covid 19 Negative test result ( date should be no longer than a week prior).

At this time, students, parents, guardians and teachers who are attending lessons in person must fill out a Covid-19 Symptom-free checklist before coming to lessons which can be found on the bottom.

QMA Safety Measures

We have been paying attention closely with CDC and NY Safety protocol.  To provide a safe environment for all of our students, we have the following safety measures in place:

  • July 5, 2021: Masks are required even you are vaccinated or have a Covid 19 negative result (date should be no longer than two weeks prior)"

  • Everyone is asked to sanitize their hands upon arrival and departure.

  • Students are required to submit a COVID symptom free checklist before each lesson. A parent/guardian signature is needed for all students ages 18 and under. Without this signed form, an in-person lesson will be unavailable.

  • All parents who are attending lessons and classes with their children are also required to submit a COVID symptom free checklist beforehand.

  • In-person lessons will not be available to students who are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, have traveled outside of the country within 14 days or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive to COVID within 14 days. An online lesson will be available at the student's regular scheduled lesson day and time provided that the student has given their teacher prior notice. Students who are unable to attend group classes can request course material to be emailed. A Zoom online class may be available depending on the group class.

  • Students with pre-existing medical conditions such as allergies who are exhibiting symptoms may choose to take a COVID test. A negative test result with an accompanying doctor's note that indicates the pre-existing condition can be submitted to QMA in order to receive exemption from the symptom portion of the QMA COVID Symptom-Free Checklist.

  • Should a student display signs of sickness during their lesson time, they will immediately be isolated in a separate room and their parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up.

  • In an effort to decrease the number of people in our common areas, parents are asked to wait in the car or stay at home during their children’s lessons. Children are required to be escorted in and out of the building by an adult.

  • Parents of students ages 12+ may sign a waiver allowing students to enter and leave the premises unescorted. Students arriving without a parent/guardian will need to submit their COVID symptom free checklist before each lesson.

  • Surfaces at QMA will be disinfected frequently including keyboards and the polycarbonate shields used for vocal lessons..

  • Should a government-mandated closure occur, all in-person lessons will continue online. Students may withdraw from lessons at any time with one month's written notice.

  • Online LESSONS WORKING WELL FOR YOU?
Most of our students did not skip a beat when we found ourselves switching to the online platform this past spring. In fact, teachers reported a marked increase in student’ focus ability and rate of progress with online learning.

We understand that many of our students and families are not ready to return to in-person lessons and the great news is that you do not have to. Now that we know how convenient and effective virtual lessons are, they will continue to be offered at QMA.

Want to try a combination of online and in-person lessons? This is possible too! We encourage to talk to your child’s teacher to set up hybrid schedule combining online and in-person lessons. Keep in mind that not all teachers are offering hybrid. Allow Limited in person lessons with hybrid schedule: perhaps  three times online and one time in person.  It is because we need to limit our space to 25% occupancy.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Benefit of Online lesson

Online music lessons are becoming a good alternative to face-to-face tutorials. With online lessons, you get a personalized solution to all your music learning needs. You’ll get a one-on-one lesson with an expert teacher through various mediums. This could be through a video call on Google Hangout, Skype, and Apple Face Time. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world. You can access online music lessons for as long as you have the interest to learn. Whether you are a seasoned professional or beginner, there is something about these lessons that will suit your needs.

Here are the benefits of taking live music lessons online:

  • Convenience

You can take online music lessons without leaving your home. All you need is a computer with internet connection and your instrument. You will arrange with your instructor when you should log into your FaceTime or Skype account to start your lesson. When you take your lessons from home, there is no need for commuting to and from the class. The scheduling is all about you and what works best for you! It’s even better if you are a parent so you can plan your music lessons around your children’s activities.

  • Recording

The nature of online instruction means it’s also easy to record your lesson. You can save the recording for posterity, replay parts, or even replay the entire lesson again and take notes. (I’ve videotaped, re-watched and taken voluminous notes from my lessons many times). Of course it’s also easy to record in-person lessons, as long as your teacher is comfortable with it (and most are). But have you ever done it?

What do you need?

  • A quiet space and time.

  • An internet.

  • A laptop or computer.

  • Download Skype or facetime or google hangout or facebook messenger.

How does it work?

  • call or text your teacher that you are ready for the lesson

  • The teacher will call you via skype, facetime, google hangout or Facebook Messenger
